Required credits: 12
Elective credits: 12
Total credits required: 24
Credit requirements:
1. Students are required to take 24 credits for the acquisition of the module certificate. If students fail to acquire the total credits required, credits taken are accepted by the University as those for graduation. Module A is basic foreign language courses (including beginning and intermediate Japanese and Korean); Module B is culture courses including culture, history, literature, and social sciences. When students from relevant language departments take the module, they can only deduct up to four credits in Module B.
2. Students taking the basic language courses of the module need to pass exams or proficiency tests to advance or waive the courses. They need to take the minimum required credits. This module helps students to pass relevant language proficiency tests.
3. The module is open for all students at different programs of the University (undergraduate, MA, doctoral, and on-the-job training). For the department courses, in principle, students shall attend the courses with those major in the departments. Basic Korean and Japanese courses are open for non-majors on a for-pay basis.
4. Those who wish to study the module shall submit the application form and the relevant information when the application opens in each semester to the Module Planning Committee for approval.
